Application of Entrepreneurial Knowledge among Self-Employed Graduates within the Business Community of Two Federal Institutions in Imo State, Nigeria

The study examines the application of entrepreneurship knowledge among self-employed graduates in business environment of two tertiary institutions. A total of one hundred (100) self-employed graduates were purposively sampled. Data was collected by use of structured questionnaire and analyzed by simple frequency and percentages. The result indicates that the self-employed graduates have knowledge of entrepreneurship education and several entrepreneurship opportunities such as cyber café business, computer business, sales of computer/phones accessories, repairing and maintenance of computers/GSM, sales of wears, video coverage/photography and bindery services are available in the environment. The study also identified the following challenges to effective application of entrepreneurship knowledge: lack of finance, lack of credit facilities, high cost of equipments / facilities to kick off, as well as, inadequate knowledge of the business world. The paper concludes that the sustainability of knowledge acquired is dependent on proper application of those entrepreneur skills. Recommendations were made based on the findings.
