Abstract
This work aimed to evaluate the combined effect of rates, insecticides and of action mode to control the Fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda in the corn crop. The trial was conducted in, Vilankulo distrit, Mozambique, based on a completely randomized block design, on factorial arrangement, consisting of three factors: (i) Application rate, with five levels: 100% - recommended, -5% below the recommended, -10% - below the recommended, +5% above the recommended and +10% above the recommended; (ii) Insecticide, with three levels: Pirimiphos metilo + deltametrina; Emamectin benzoate; Profenophos + Cypermethrin; and (iii) Action mode, with two levels: Contact and systemic action. The trial had 3 repetitions, 30 treatments and 90 plots, in 2 ha. The evaluated parameters were infested plants with eggs, larvae, and adults of S. frugiperda; crop height and yield. The results showed a significance effect of the action mode to the infected plants with S. frugiperda. In addition, the mean test showed that the addition of +5% controlled egg methamorfose for all pesticides. The pesticide Pirimiphos metilo+ Deltametrina in systemic (applied every 14 days) had a good efficiency on controlling adults.
