Abstract

Crambe abyssinica is a winter brassica with high oil content showing great potential as a source of raw material for biodiesel production. As a winter crop with a short developmental cycle, 90 to 100 days, it is used as an off-season crop. This work was conducted in Umuarama County, Parana State, Oxisol Udic Dystrophic and aimed to evaluate the effect of potassium growing application (0, 15, 30, 60 and 90 kg ha-1) used at the sowing of the crop. The application of potassium rates fertilizer resulted in a significant increase of this nutrient in crambe leaf tissue observed using leaf analysis.

Key words: Crambe abyssinica Hoechst, biodiesel, fertilization, leaf analysis, potassium.
