The investigation on infestation dynamics of shoot and fruit borer, Leucinodes orbonalis on brinjal in relation to meteorological conditions on shoot its population was most demure in the last week of September when 70.00 per cent on Azad B2 and 80.00 per cent on Azad B2 of the plants were having shoot infestation with an intensity of 2.43 and 2.53 per plants, there was significantly encouraging role of maximum and minimum temperature on shoots of both varieties in rainy season. Whereas in summer it reached to maximum in the 3rd week of June when intensity 1.67, 1.77/plant and 46.67, 50.00 per cent respectively on young shoots and minimum and maximum temperature and morning relative humidity had played drastically positive role on intensity and infestation. The influx on the fruits was started immediately on initiation of fruiting in last week September and peaked at 63.33, 54.81 per cent on Azad B2 and 70.00, 57.40 per cent on Azad B3 during the end week of October in rainy season. While during summer it reached peak in 27th SW to 1.20, 1.30 larvae/fruit with 33.33 and 34.81 per cent on Azad B2 and 50.00 and 47.40 per cent on Azad B3 on the basis of number and weight respectively. The relative humidity in evening and wind velocity had significantly positive impact on fruit infestation. Therefore, it is concluded that the brinjal production and quality of fruits are mainly affected by especially shoot and fruit borer, L. orbonalis which acts as a limiting key factor in profitable cultivation of the crop, causing severe losses throughout the year on rainy and summer season crops.
