Stylosanthes is a genus of Leguminosae family present in south America, employed as fodder, cover pasture and in recovering degraded soils. Chemical fertilization and mycorrhization were recently adopted to increase Stylosanthes spp. performances and resistance to abiotic stresses but there are no studies evaluating use of humic acids and essential oils. This preliminary work, carried on in greenhouse growing Stylosanthes guianensis seedlings in Leonard pots, shows a humic acids-like effect of Eucalyptus essential oil on root architecture, furthermore adding new information on essential oils as biostimulants.
