The aim of this research is to assess the predictive power of the success tendency and ego identity status of the students of Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department. 581 students of Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department in Kayseri, NiÄŸde, Burdur, Bolu and DiyarbakÄ±r participated in this research. The acquired results were analyzed with SPSS 20 package. To specify if there was a meaningful relationship between the acquired data, Pearson Correlation analysis was used; and to evaluate the predictive power of the relationship between them, multiple regression analysis was applied. In the successful identity characteristic, there was a positive and meaningful relationship between learning tendency, tendency for performance and avoidance of performance tendency. While there was not a meaningful relationship between monotorium identity, encumbered identity, dispersiveness identity and learning tendency, it was found that there was a positive and meaningful relationship between tendency for performance and avoidance of performance. When the success tendencies of the ego identity statutes were assessed, it is seen that in successful identity status, learning tendency, performance tendency and avoidance of performance characteristics were predicted. As successful identity rises, individuals’ learning tendency increases and while performance tendency increases avoidance of performance tendency decreases. In suspended, encumbered and dispersed identities status, learning tendency, performance tendency and avoidance of performance tendency are predicted. As suspended, encumbered and dispersed identities statuses increase, individuals’ learning tendency and performance tendency decrease, but avoidance of performance tendency increases. These results reveal that Physical Education and Sports Teaching candidates’ identity statutes and success tendencies are affected.
