In pre-school education, music education and in this context piano education attract attention all over the world. Teacher candidates at music teaching departments in Turkey take two compulsory and four elective piano courses during their undergraduate education. The content of these courses is mainly focused on technical development and performance. The prospective teachers in these programs do not take any lessons on how to teach the instrument. However, the teacher candidates are required to take courses that include methods and techniques for teaching instruments related to their profession. There is not a course in the curriculum of music education undergraduate program of the Higher Education Council. Regarding this situation, the researcher offers some suggestions by discussing the importance of the subject based on the literature in this study.
