The paper is aimed at seeking the main determinants of the financial performance of NGOs in the US, with a specific focus on those devoted to environmental protection and conservation, and to assess a potential shift in the pattern of revenue and expenditure of such organizations that may have occurred following the election of president Trump in 2016 and the implementation of his administration’s environmental policy, among which the America First Energy Plan represents a total change in direction relative to the Obama era. The paper outlines a geographic pattern, by showing the impact of the voting preferences (by State) at the 2016 presidential election on the financial performance of NGOs.
