The paper is aimed at seeking the main determinants of the financial performance of NGOs in the US, with a specific focus on those devoted to environmental protection and conservation, and to assess a potential shift in the pattern of revenue and expenditure of such organizations that may have occurred following the election of president Trump in 2016 and the implementation of his administrationâ€™s environmental policy, among which the America First Energy Plan represents a total change in direction relative to the Obama era. The paper outlines a geographic pattern, by showing the impact of the voting preferences (by State) at the 2016 presidential election on the financial performance of NGOs.
