Abstract

Credible evaluation is a key to sustainable and rapid agricultural development of any country. This requires policies and methods that emphasize efficient and effective evaluation. The procedures must be well guided by experts with adequate representations of all the stakeholders that are involved in the planning of the programme. This article presents evaluation in Agricultural extension as a concept with certain philosophy. Individual evaluator consciously or unconsciously, directly or indirectly apply their philosophies when evaluating agricultural extension programmes. The study recommends that evaluators should purge-out theirphilosophies whenever they are involved in programme evaluation. This will make any evaluated programme to be credible in the field of agricultural extension in Nigeria.
