Abstract
Being a doctoral student is different; different from being a student of a taught degree programme. You are on your own. You have to decide what is needed and how you will meet the needs. You may go through periods of lull, stress and digressions. You have to overcome them all. The initial enthusiasm will dip at times, and it is perseverance rather than brilliance that will carry you through. And you will get enlightenment, Eureka!
