Abstract
The antimicrobial activities of leaf extracts of Calycopteris floribunda in three different solvents such as diethyl ether-methanol, aqueous 90% methanol extract and petroleum ether-butanol extract were tested against Bacillus cereus, Bacillus subtilis andStaphylococcus aureus. The diethyl ether-methanol extract of the leaves and its petroleum ether-butanol fraction showed significant antibacterial activity. The antioxidant property was maximum in petroleum ether-butanol extract and was minimum in diethyl ether-methanol extract.
