This study sought to investigate the knowledge of cervical cancer and the willingness to uptake HPV vaccine among female artisans in Ibadan North Local government area, Ibadan, Nigeria. Quantitative data was collected using questionnaire administered to 382 female artisans (aged 15-`24 years) who were selected by three-staged sampling technique across Ibadan North local government Area. The data was analyzed with the aids of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 21 using inferential and chi-square statistics. Out of 382 female artisans, 100 (26.2%) reported having ever had sex and 32% having more than one sexual partner. Only 22.3% of the respondents had ever heard of cervical cancer and 37.6% of them got their information from the television. A high number of the respondents (78.8%) had poor knowledge of cervical cancer, 20% had fair knowledge while 1.2% had good knowledge. About two-third (61.8%) of the respondents were willing to take up the HPV vaccine and most preferred to be vaccinated at the health centre. The high cost of the HPV vaccine (61.3%) and lack of knowledge about the vaccine (61.3%) was reported as the major factors limiting uptake of the vaccine while Family support (60.2%) and doctor’s recommendation (59.1%) was reported as enabling factors for uptake of the vaccine. Knowledge about cervical cancer was low while willingness to uptake HPV vaccine was high among female artisans in Ibadan North Local Government area of Oyo state. Hence, there is a need for health education of this target audience through peer education and also provision of free Human Papilloma Virus vaccine.
