Currently, the national neonatal mortality rate of Nigeria at 35.9 deaths per 1000 live births is very high compared to most western countries. Current efforts at reducing child mortality rates through the Sustainable developmental goals tend to neglect reduction in the neonatal mortality rate.
Aim
This study aims to assess the pattern of neonatal admission and outcome with a view to contributing its data to the national data base necessary for formulation of evidence based policies aimed at reducing Under 5 mortality rate in Nigeria and to improve neonatal management protocols in our centre.
