In developing counties where costs of veterinary drugs are hard to cover in many livestock health problems; using traditional medicine are first option in such cases. For instance in Ethiopia over 95% of the traditional medicine preparations are of plant origin. To identify plants and their medicinal values in study area Cross sectional study was performed from November 2018 to April 2019 in Dire Incinni district west shoa of Oromia, Ethiopia to investigate Ethno veterinary knowledge of medicinal plants and practice of key informant in the study area using semi structured interviews. To achieve these, study 68 key informants were purposively sampled and 44 species of medicinal plants belong to 22 families identified. Among these medicinal plant 42(95.5%) were used for curatives whereas 2(4.5%) for prophylaxis purpose. In order to evaluate the reliability and richness of the knowledge of medicinal plants in the area, quantitative keys, such as informant consensus factor, plants information and aim of treatment were used for the data analysis. According to current study, the most common plant families identified to have medicinal value in study area were family of Asteraceae 5(11.36%) and Euphorbiaceae. Majority of plant species were collected from wild and tree constitute the largest habit followed by herbs and shrubs . Even if many type of livestock ailments were treated stomach ache and bloating are highly occurring and treated disease in the area .Generally since medicinal plants play crucial role in solving livestock’s health problems they should be identified, conserved, domesticated by creating medical plant park and special attention should given for indigenous, seasonally available and root used plants
