The best phytotechnical adjustment of the plants is essential to obtain high yield levels in the cassava crop. Thus, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the agronomic and morphological characteristics of cassava genotypes submitted to five different spacings grown in two cycles under no-till system in the western region of the state of Paraná. The experimental design was a randomized block design, with four replications in a sub - divided plot scheme. The main plots were constituted by five spacings between plants (40; 60; 80; 100; 120 cm), maintaining a 90 cm. row spacing. The subplots were composed of six cassava genotypes with erect and branched growth habits (Santa Helena, Baianinha, genotype 55-03, genotype 55-04, genotype 59-27 and genotype 25/09), each subplot being further divided into two driving cycles. The agronomic characteristics of cassava are defined according to genotype and spacing, independent of their aerial size. However the starch content and the incidence of rot are not influenced by plant spacing. The best mass yield of root dry matter was obtained in the spacing of 89 cm in the first cycle (9.33 t ha-1) and in the spacing of 120 cm in the second cycle (17.04 t ha-1), regardless of the genotype used.
