A survey with closed and open questions was done to assess knowledge and practice towards pesticides among farmworkers in Serbia and to evaluate the possible influence of education level, the amount of farming, and length in farming on farmers' behavior. The survey included 33 closed and open-ended questions, and meeting interview and personal visits were used for filling the questionnaire. All farmers (84) had at least eight years of formal education (34.5%), 12 farmers (57,2 %) had 12yr, and the others (8.3%) had 16 years at various universities. Most farmers (70.2%) had additional education in agriculture. Most of them (66.7%) cultivated 5to 25 ha, and 81% cultivated them for over ten years. Knowledge of pesticide toxicity was satisfactory (90% right answers). Most farmers (91.7%) did not spill unused pesticides. 82,1% of farmers put empty packages in special containers. 79.6% took a shower after handling. However, only 35.7% used personal protection equipment when mixing and spraying pesticides.
