This study was designed to assess the nutritional profile (proteins, total lipids and total fiber), vitamins viz., A and C, carotenoids, total phenols and antioxidant activity of Physalis peruviana fruit samples collected from three different sites. As observed from the results the fruit contained a considerable amount of proteins, lipids, fiber, vitamins viz., A and C, carotenoids, phenols and antioxidant activity which varied from site to site. The amount of total lipid and concentration of carotenoid as beta-carotene were varied when different extracting solvent used. Hence, the calculated amount of total carbohydrate and energy also varied. The results confirmed that as the fruit of Physalis peruviana is a stockroom of several health's promoting nutrient and bio-active compounds which make it important fruit.
