Globally, adverse drug reactions (ADR) are underreported, but more so in developing nations where fewer medical professionals participate. There is currently no literature on the knowledge of ADR reporting among pharmacy students in southeastern Nigeria. To determine pharmacy students' understanding and attitudes about pharmacovigilance and reporting of adverse drug reactions. The study was a cross-sectional study conducted at four accredited universities in southeastern Nigeria by the Nigeria Universities Commissions (NUC) that offer pharmacy courses. A self-administered 33-item survey instrument with three areas, namely demographics, knowledge, and attitude of fourth- and fifth-year pharmacy students on ADRs reporting, and pharmacovigilance, was used to conduct the study. Out of over 400 responses from fourth and final-year pharmacy students approached, 371 students gave consent to participate in our study and correctly filled out the questionnaire. 51.1% of the participants had good knowledge and 91.1% had good perception of pharmacovigilance. Students from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU ) demonstrated a higher knowledge of pharmacovigilance and ADR reporting compared to their counterparts, and first-generation universities like UNN had the lowest knowledge score. The findings indicated that pharmacy students in southeast Nigeria possessed adequate knowledge and perception of adverse drug reaction reporting and pharmacovigilance
