Abstract

The paper focused on general cost indices in open and distance learning (ODL) in Nigeria. Existing literaturesat the international level and in the only single mode open and distance learning in Nigeria (National Open University of Nigeria – NOUN) were reviewed to ascertain the factors that affect cost in open and distance learning. The findings revealed neglect of some factors during cost consideration. The cost structure observed requires a proper integration of all the sub-sections in an open and distance learning to be able to have adequate budget system in an open and distance learning institutions.
