Sleeping on sand is an odd tradition spread along three beach shore villages include in East Legung which is not common for other villagers. This peculiarity activity will not be founded on any other villages around those three areas. General aim on this research is to found local villager’s comprehension related to sleeping on sand which is based on focus of the study dealing with local value as social capital source owned by East Legung beach shore communities as part of Sumenep Regency. This study is qualitative method since it applicates certain strategy on grounded theory. Sample of data was taken from the form of interview, observation and documentation. Local believe and high confidence about sand having ability to cure some aches is one of local value owned by East Legung beach shore communities which was supported by nature that sand overwhelmingly surround them. This natural wealth keeps sleeping on sand tradition done everlasting. For East Legung beach shore communities, the sand was not only mean as traditional health treatment but also teaches local knowledge, beside it contains meaning to represent situation on the family when some of them must leave home to stabilize their life. Attitude and behavior of each individu whom based on local believe and high confidence related with old tradition apply from the ancestors keep this custom practiced everlasting. Social reality and the role of local value become community behavior. It is internalized since very young age on internal household up to social association.
