Challenges of effective Vocational Education implementation as perceived by Vocational teachers in Ibarapa Central Area of Oyo state, Nigeria

The study was carried out to research into the vocational teachers perception of the challenges of effective vocational training implementation in the study area. Questionnaire was used to elicit data from 120 selected vocational teachers within Ibarapa central Local Government area. However, ranked with their mean, the research reveals that peoples attitude towards vocational training ranked 1st. problems of remuneration (3.17), curriculum issues (3.14), inadequate funding (3.13), inadequate teaching materials (3.04) and government policies (3.03) ranked 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th respectively while inadequate facilities for practical (2.97), lack of motivation on the part of vocational teachers (2.92), unconducive learning environment (2.78) and lack of in-service training for the vocational teachers (2.77) ranked 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th respectively. In conclusion, Peoples attitude about vocational and technical education should be addressed through continuous orientation of the general populace about the importance of vocational and technical education. Therefore, Government should create more awareness on the Television, Newspapers, organize conferences and seminars to educate the public of the significance and potential role vocational and technical education plays toward national economic development.
