Poultry activity has a high productivity with very specific assets and represents an outstanding role in the Brazilian economic scenario. Its performance on this sector became Brazil the second largest producer in the world, and the world's largest exporter of chicken meat. This national production is concentrated in the Southern region of the country, leading by the State of Paraná, mainly in the West Region, where agroindustries are among the top 15 national exporters. In this context, the agroindustrial system is mostly coordinated by means of the integration/partnership system, between poultry producers and integrating institutions. Considering these facts, the main objective of this paper was to discuss the relationship between poultry producers and their integrators, involving its perception about the activity, how they decide to choose and stay in an integration contract, based on a case for West Region of Paraná, Brazil. Methodological proceedings consisted of a survey applied for 98 producers, containing a socioeconomic data collection process. Some statistical tests were applied: non-parametric chi-square tests, using a cross-reference tables, symmetric measures of Contingency Coefficient (C), Phi Coefficient (ɸ) and Cramer Coefficient (V), comparison proportions tests and bivariate correlations based on Spearman Rho coefficient. Main results indicate that producer´s profile is composed, on its majority, by small producers with small/medium properties and family working on the activity, so it demonstrate a high dependence degree on agroindustry, but at the choosing moment, there is a competition between enterprises/integrators over producers. A very interesting aspect supports that, producers, in the majority of cases, choose the integrator by the brand trust and not by price, so it was explained because of the specificity for production relationship
