The experiment was designed in a split plot design with three replications where the two maize varieties (Melkassa 2 and Melkasa 4) were main plot treatments, while treatment control options were sub-plot treatments, which included T1 (Sole maize), T2 (Neem), T3 (Indoxacarb 150 SC), T4 (intercropping with haricot bean), T5 (Neem + intercropping with haricot bean), T6 (Indoxacarb 150 SC + intercropping with haricot bean), T7 (Indoxacarb 150 SC + Neem and T8 (Indoxacarb 150 SC + Neem + intercropping with haricot bean). The results obtained indicated that there was no significant difference (P>0.05) between the maize varieties in all measured parameters across all maize growth stages. Treatments such as T3, T6, T7 and T8 which contain Indoxacarb were successful in reducing egg and larval densities of S. frugiperda. In terms of percent infestation, plant score damage and cob damage score, treatments which also contained Avuant had the least infested, least damaged maize plants and cobs. The highest yield was obtained on T7 with a yield of 7555.08 Kg/ha, followed by T3, which was 7208.4Kg/ha. From the study, it can be concluded that some S. frugiperda control methods were found which can be recommended to farmers.
