Wheat is one of the most consumed and less produced crop in Cameroon. The study aims to investigate farmers’ knowledge on wheat cultivation and estimate the performance of introduced varieties using different fertilization in Santa. A random sample of 80 farmers were administered an open-ended questionnaire. Then, 14 varieties were evaluated in RCBD with three replicates. The survey indicated that the age of farmers ranged from 20 to over 70. Farmers in Santa had acceptable level of education. This population mostly produces vegetable, Irish and sweet potatoes whereas wheat plant was poorly known. They all consumed wheat product daily at various forms. Almost all farmers used organic fertilizer such as poultry and pig manure. Then, 84.9% of the farmers sell their harvest products either in the country or in neighboring countries. Evaluation in the field showed highly significant differences (P?0.001) in growth parameters for different types of fertilization. No significant variation was observed among varieties and their interactions. The general mean value of the traits estimated under organic fertilizer was higher than that of inorganic. Therefore, wheat can be grown in Santa using organic fertilizer to obtain good yield if farmers are willing to include it in their cropping system.
