Given the great diversity and progressive hybridization of cocoa plantations in many parts of the country, this research spontaneous cocoa genotypes (Theobroma cacao L. is characterized.), Taking into account the variables of morphological and commercial quality of the mountainous region of Cumboto, Gold Coast Municipality, Aragua State. For this purpose, 20 genotypes with desirable characteristics apparent spontaneous and intrinsic quality production assessed. In this regard, we proceeded to perform the collection, identification and selection of these materials, for morphological characterization using morphological descriptors recommended by I Engels cited by Jimenez et al., (2008). Twenty five morphologic variables of leaves, fruits and seeds (blade length, weight of the fruit, almonds index, the index of cobs, etc.) were used. Descriptive statistics and multivariate analysis (principal components) to identify variables that discriminate between groups and gathering locations. The results allowed the identification of two trees with native relevant characteristics, such as white seeds and high rate of almond varieties. The most demanding variables were: Predominant in the population outside hybrids and Trinitarians genotypes. It was concluded that there is a low density of spontaneous genotypes creole in sector. This study facilitated the recovery of native germplasm to better define commercial quality and guide the selection of new genotypes.
