Residual application of lime and gypsum in the chemical properties of the soil under conventional tillage and no tillage

Cerrado biome is characterized by acid soils which can limit productivity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the residual effect of the application of lime and gypsum on soil chemical properties under two managements systems. The experimental design was randomized blocks with a split-plot design. The plots received levels of conventional and no-tillage management system factors. Subplots received applications of lime and gypsum (Control, Limestone at 3.56 Mg ha-1), Gypsum (2 Mg ha-1), Limestone with the recommended dose + Gypsum (3.563 Mg ha-1 + 2 Mg ha-1), Limestone with half the recommended dose + Gypsum (1.78 Mg ha-1 + 2 Mg ha-1) and Limestone with twice the recommended dose + Gypsum (7.13 Mg ha-1 + 2 Mg ha-1), with four replications. The results showed that liming and the use of gypsum did not affect pH, potential acidity, magnesium content, exchangeable aluminum and aluminum saturation at the depths 0-10, 10-20 and 20-30 cm. The liming and the use of gypsum under a conventional management system increased calcium and phosphorus contents, base sum and cation exchange capacity at the depths 10-20 and 20-30 cm. At the depths 10-20 and 20-30 cm, the gypsum increased the calcium content, base sum and cation exchange capacity in the direct seeding.
