Trichogramma atopovirilia releases in citrus groves to control the citrus fruit borer

Here we evaluated the impact Trichogramma atopovirilia (Oatman & Platner, 1983) releases for the control of Gymnandrosoma aurantianum (Lima, 1927) in two commercial citrus groves located at the São Paulo state (Brazil). The releases were performed at different frequencies in the fall and winter of 2006, and he number of released parasitoids a function of the G. aurantianum eggs in the field. 72 and 288 parasitoids per egg were required in the fall and winter, respectively. T. atopovirilia releases proved to be an effective control measure against this important citrus pest.
