The potential of the Netherlands and Turkey in the renewables arena

Abstract

Due to the limited fossil sources and the pollution resulting from using these sources, countries have seen an increasing emphasis on renewables. This paper looks at the developments in renewables in the Netherlands and Turkey by presenting the financial and political opportunities. The Netherlands is a guide land in the renewables area, especially wind and solar energy. Renewables has also been becoming more and more important in Turkey. This paper indicates Turkey has great potential in the renewables arena and performs better than most European Union (EU) countries. But the higher fixed costs and outdated financing mechanisms in Turkey demands new methods. The Netherlands wind experience also serve as a good basis to Turkey in the renewable area.
