The purpose of the paper was to analyse the sustainability of CSR projects done by mining companies comparing Zimbabwe and South Africa. A qualitative research design was used and data was collected from 22 respondents from government representatives, mining representatives and community representatives. The results from the study show that in South Africa there is more stakeholder inclusion and ownership of the CSR projects compared to Zimbabwe. This is more attributed to the legislation in CSR that encourages stakeholder inclusion. The stakeholder inclusion and ownership leads to project sustainability initially and sustainability in the end.
