Escherichia coli (E. coli) are frequent occupant of the animal and human intestine. It also acts as leading pathogen causing Urinary tract infections. We have checked the checked the antibiotic susceptibility of E. coli against different antibiotics by Kirby-Bauer diffusion method. In this study, prevalence of E. coli is 64%. 27(42.18%) samples showed Multi drug resistance (MDR) in this study. 4(6.25%) samples showed Extensively drug resistance (XDR). There were no Pan drug resistance (PDR) isolates in this study. In this study we isolated the E. coli from blood and urine samples to determine the antibiotic sensitivity pattern of E. coli at National Institute of Health Islamabad (N.I.H). E. coli isolated from samples by using different culture Media in National Institute of Health (N.I.H) Islamabad. Higher antibiotic susceptibility showed by Imipenem (96.6%) and higher resistance showed by Ampicillin (90%) and Cefotaxime (90%). The percentage of MDR, XDR and PDR strains in this study is 42.18%, 6.25%, and 00% respectively, so prevalence of MDR strains in this study were higher than XDR and PDR. E. coli showed resistance to many antibiotics in this study. Imipenem showed higher sensitivity and ampicillin showed higher resistance.
