This study investigated the growth, length-weight relationships and condition factor of fish species found in Challawa gorge dam. 10 fish species belonging to 9 families were identified. These were: Bagrus bayad macropterus, Synodontis schall, Oreochromis niloticus, Pollimyrus isidori, Marcusenius senegalensis, Schilbe uranoscopus, Clarias lazera, Lates niloticus, Brycinus nurse and Auchenoglanis occidentalis. Their growth rates (K) were: 0.27, 0.31, 0.39, 0.37, 0.35, 0.18, 0.34, 0.34, 0.12 and 0.30. The growth performance indices (Φ′) obtained from this study were: 3.05, 2.50, 2.62, 2.27, 2.71, 3.01, 1.91, 1.91, 2.10 and 2.68. The “b†values for the fishes were: 2.526, 3.064, 3.429, 2.562, 2.886, 2.726, 2.632, 2.689, 2.829 and 2.798. These show that 8 fish species were found to be negatively allometric, 1 was positively allometric and 1 was isometric. The mean condition factor “k†for the identified fish species were: 0.94, 1.31, 1.68, 0.85, 1.04, 1.11, 1.47, 0.9, 0.83 and 0.93. These indicated that 5 species had a robust well-being while the remaining 5 species were not robust.
