Abstract

In this paper, we suggest and analyze a new iterative method for solving the absolute value equations  where is symmetric matrix,  and is unknown. This method can be viewed as a modification of Gauss-Seidel method for solving the absolute value equations. We also discuss the convergence of the proposed method under suitable conditions. Several examples are given to illustrate the implementation and efficiency of the method. Some open problems are also suggested.

Key words: Absolute value equations, minimization technique, Gauss-Seidel method, Iterative method.
