Effects of Farmers Field Schools on Improvement Farming Practices for Increasing Crops Yield, North Kordofan-Sudan.

The purpose of this paper is to identifying the effects of farmer’s field schools as training approach to improve farmer’s agricultural practices for increasing crop production in the study area. Specifically, to know farmers knowledge and skills acquired from joined farmers field schools, and to test significance levels for socio-economic characteristics and agricultural practices delivered to respondents. The research employs purposive sampling technique for 120 respondents were participated in four farmer filed school in different location in the study area during the period 2012-2022. Data collection tools comprise reconnaissance survey used questionnaire, group discussion, and direct observation. Secondary data gathered from scientific papers, books, relevant authenticated website, and report from relevant institutions. The data analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS version 22) focus on descriptive analysis and Chi-square. The finding illustrate that 63.3% of the respondents were male, 46.7% have an elementary education, 74.2% possession their lands, 82.5% their land size greater than 9 Mukhamas. 100% of the respondents are interested in noticing the changes that occur due to agricultural practices acquired, their practices were improved, and crops production was increased after participating in the farmer field school programs to 10-15 Jawal and more compared to five Jawal before. 100% of the respondents agree to generalize the farmer field school approach to the neighboring village in the area. The results of Chi-square test showed significant differences among the tested variables. The results reflect the enthusiastic of the stakeholders to positive contribute towards building capacities regarding agricultural practices. Recommendation refer to the improvement of extension system and direction for future agricultural stability.
