Abstract

The present study was under taken to explore the potential of Acacia nilotica L and Ricinuscommunis L as antimicrobial agents in relation with various important bio-molecules and to check their correlation as antimicrobial agent. In present study water and methanol extract (20%) of different parts of A. nilotica and R. communis showed good inhibition against Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae), and Gram negative bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosaEscherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae) and some fungi (Aspergillus nigerPenicillium expansum and Aspergillus fumigatus). The presence of significant concentration of total protein, total sugar, reducing sugar, some identified free amino acids and sugars provided good correlation among antimicrobial compounds which are present in both plants extracts and have capability to kill the pathogens or inhibit the growth of microbes.
