Enhancing In-Service Teachers' Awareness of Environmental Education and Sustainable Development in Higher Secondary Institutions

This study investigates the awareness of environmental education and sustainable development among teachers in higher secondary institutions. The research involved 80 teachers from schools in Ganderbal, Badgam, and Anantnag Districts of UT of J&K. A questionnaire was utilized to evaluate teachers' awareness across various dimensions. Results indicated that female teachers demonstrated a higher level of understandingthan male teachers. Factors such as urban versus rural settings, English versus Urdu Medium schools, and Public versus Private teachers consistently impacted awareness levels. Additionally, the study explored the influence of age and years of experience on teachers' awareness.
