Adaptation to the New Normal: Life Orientation and Resiliency of Selected College Students in Time of Pandemic

In January 2020, the WHO announce the COVID-19 infection epidemic an emergency of global importance (World Health Organization, 2020). For the majority of schools and institutions, virtual learning raises current difficulties. College students are concerned as a result of the semester's volatility and sudden upheaval. As more institutions transition to online instruction after school holiday, students are experiencing high level of anxiety as a result of academic disruption (Talidong & Toquero,2020). This study aimed to study the level of life orientation and resiliency of college students. The results of the revealed that 59% of the respondents have a high level of pessimism, 38% of the population has a moderate level of optimism, and 2% of the population has a high level of optimism. For the level of resiliency results revealed that 32% had an established level of resilience. There are also 30% of the population, who are developing their resilience. While 22% of the respondents had a strong level of resilience and 16% show an exceptional level of resilience. Findings shows that student’s level of resiliency and life orientation are not significantly related with .23 correlation coefficient at 0.05 level of significant.
